SERVICE BRANCHES - Omega Fleet Marines

The Omega Fleet adheres to Starfleet Standard Service Branches to differentiate between duty assignments. The Marines are illustrated below.

At present the 37th Regiment are serving with the Omega Fleet.

Marines - Responsible for defending the Federation against military threats or supporting Security Officers in military action, Starfleet Marines are specialists in combat & tactics.  They typically are found as support staff on a Starbase or Starship which regularly encounters trouble.  Given the nature of the 'special circumstances' required to justify employing Starfleet Marines, this branch maintains it's own Academy and rank structure to differentiate them from Starfleet Naval operations which have the image of promoting peace.  This branch is indicated by an olive drab tunic colour.  There is a Special Forces Branch of the Starfleet Marines, indicated by a black tunic colour.  These highly professional specialists have training far and above the level of most Marines, and are trained to fight as a highly coordinated, highly disciplined team.  If the Marines are rare, the Special Forces are all but unheard of.
